Overview
The Early Sepsis Indicator is a unique, FDA-cleared biomarker that is automatically reported as part of a routine CBC with differential test on Beckman Coulter's DxH 900 and DxH 690T hematology analyzers. It measures morphological changes in monocytes (Monocyte Distribution Width, or MDW) to help identify adult patients in the ER who are at an increased risk of developing sepsis. It is intended to be used in conjunction with other clinical signs and laboratory findings.
